The Lasting Legacy

by New Life Berwyn 17. November 2009 13:47

Legacy is described in Webster’s dictionary as something handed down from an ancestor or a predecessor from the past: or that which is inherited.

The Lasting Legacy
After everything else was gone, that was the one thing that remained; the lives He (Jesus) saved. That’s what will remain as the legacy of your life and mine; the lives we saved. That’s what makes a life a life that matters.

We have been chosen and called to leave a Legacy, to make a difference, and to bring forth change through Christ’s Love; If we stop and think for a moment we will realize that we are not just here to take up space in this world.  We are God's creation. Formed in our mother's womb for a purpose.  It is God’s intent for us to come into this world so we can impact the many lives He will bring our way.   We are called to be fruitful through the spreading of His divine word and gifts.  So how will you be remembered?  Will you be the one who influenced many lives or the one who was just a follower?  God has destined us to greatness! We must step out of our comfort zone so that we may reach, teach, mentor, disciple, and outreach to the lost. There is a crying generation, and people are yearning to hear a word of Hope, Peace, and Love, and we have within us the ability to change lives.  Will you leave a Lasting Legacy?

New things coming…Get prepared

by Eric Dykstra 12. November 2009 11:22
God has plans for Berwyn.  Come and see.  Look around and observe.  God’s Spirit is moving in this place. He has laid the foundation, prepared the means and deposited His will in peoples’ hearts.  We are going to see supernatural things come out of these doors.  Be ready!

I believe that God is going to bring forth people from Berwyn that are going to be major players in His kingdom here on earth.  I see many hearts of humility that are simply willing to serve Him.  From mundane tasks to larger ones, I have seen people step up and step into new roles.  It is encouraging to see and hear the passion and angst that God has placed on the people of New Life Berwyn.   I truly believe that those who are currently involved and some who are regular attendees need to get prepared spiritually because God has had His eye on you, and is going to take you to a new level.  Get connected to Him. Reconnect. Stay connected. Do what you have to do, so that you can hear God’s voice and are ready for His will to be done in and through you.

Wow!  God is amazing!!!

Is It Contagious?

by Melissa Ayala 3. November 2009 19:17
We’re at that point of the year when everyone we know is getting sick.  We lather up in hand sanitizer, keep our distance from all other humans as much as possible, and run in the other direction when we hear someone sneeze or cough.  All that’s on anyone’s mind nowadays is how to not catch the flu, or H1N1.

So I was thinking, what if loving Jesus was contagious?  What if we, the body of Christ, could send out “love for Jesus” vibes? There’s a saying “You might be the only Bible a person ever reads.” The implication is there; we are each, and as a whole, the reflection of Jesus.  Our actions, our words, our reactions, are all a reflection of Him.  So what if we really took that seriously and made an effort to wear His name proudly?  To speak as though it was Him speaking, to act as He would act.  Jesus is love, compassion, and peace to name just a few of His awesome qualities.  What if instead of scowling at the driver of the car that cut you off you just smiled at him? What if instead of not allowing someone to turn in front of you, you stop and wave them ahead? Would it be so hard to smile at the person behind the counter? Is it too much work to kindly say “have a nice day” to the person on the other end of the phone call?

We should try to encompass all that is Christ.  In a world where we’re taught to keep everyone at arm’s length let’s love to the best of our abilities.  It’s definitely in contrast to what society is doing, but completely what Christ would want of us.  So let’s wear a smile proudly.  Let’s see if it catches on.  Let’s see if we can spread some of Jesus’ love, compassion, and peace.
