Be Specific

Hey New Life Oak Forest Family,

Here is a morsel I got from today's passage from the www.oneyearbibleonline.com.

Peace and Joy,

PAL

Matthew 20:29-21:22
Jesus Heals Two Blind Men
29 As Jesus and the disciples left the town of Jericho, a large crowd followed behind. 30 Two blind men were sitting beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was coming that way, they began shouting, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
31 “Be quiet!” the crowd yelled at them.
But they only shouted louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
32 When Jesus heard them, he stopped and called, “What do you want me to do for you?”
33 “Lord,” they said, “we want to see!” 34 Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Instantly they could see! Then they followed him.

How important it is to be specific in our prayers.   We see here that the two blind men had to overcome the noise and criticism of the crowd.  Often times that noise is internal noise we hear in our minds.  It has the same effect. It threatens to stop us from asking God for what we want and need.  I like what the blind men did. They “shouted louder” . Jesus is God so he already knew what the men wanted. And it was rather obvious. Wasn’t it?  They were blind.  Nevertheless Jesus asks them, “What do you want me to do for you?”   They replied, “Lord, we want to see”
T he NLT version of the bible says that Jesus felt sorry for them.  At first, this rubs me the wrong way as I try to relate it to my own life. Then I remember I am to be pitied right along with any blind or deaf or disabled person.  Because I myself am disabled.  Disabled means not able.  When I think about it I am not able to save myself.  I am not able to do anything without the power of God working in my life.  Jesus, I need you.  Help me to see the way that you want me to see.  Help me to hear the way that you want me to hear.  Help me to walk the way that you want me to walk.  Help me to overcome the noise in my head so that I can ask you for what I need.   In Jesus name, Amen!
