I was struck today by Jesus parable of the shrewd manager (Luke 16:1-9) who knowing his time was short called all those who owed money and dealt extremely graciously and generously with them knowing that he was securing a place for himself in their heart. Jesus says in v.9 "Use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings."
In this life we strive to accumulate all kinds of stuff; from prestige to riches to experiences etc. But when that quick in coming passage of death is upon us there isn't a UHAUL that can transcend deaths doorway known to man save one: man himself.
The only vessel that can carry worth into the next life is a person.
Therefore if I wish to bring anything of value into the life to come I need to make large and long investments into people.
People are the UHAULs of eternity.
How then shall we live?
